Cheese Scones

Cheese scones in halogen oven

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb plain flour
  • 2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 3 tsp cream of tartar
  • 3 ounces margarine
  • half a pint of milk
  • 8 ounces of grated cheese, 6 for the scones and 2 to sprinkle on top.

Method:

Mix the dry ingredients together and then rub in the fat.

Add the grated cheese and mix together well.

Add the milk until you have a soft but not sticky dough, you may not need all of the milk.

Roll the dough out on a floured surface until about half an inch thick and then cut into rounds.

Sprinkle the reserved cheese on top of the scones.

I lined the frying pan with baking paper and arranged 5 scones on it.

I put it on the low rack and using the extender ring, cooked the scones for 22 mins at 190°C, right way up for 15 mins until golden brown then I turned them upside down for 7 mins and they cooked perfectly.
